Guide and general recommendations for a program of resistance muscle in prostate cancer
Frequency: 3 sessions / week with a day off between sessions
Intensity: 60% -70% of 1RM
Evaluated using the indirect calculation of the 1RM (repetition maximum). In the early stages supervision is essential
Duration: 8-10 years / series of 2-3 / 8 to 12 repetitions with 60 to pause 90 seconds between sets and exercises. Progression will increase in this order: reps, sets and weight. In the initial phase, the Work is 1 set of 8 repetitions at 50% of 1RM. We are progressing with increasing reps and sets. Then we increase the weight 10% of 1RM declining, in turn, a number and the number of repetitions. Progression to continue reaching the maintenance phase.
(1) In deconditioned patients it is preferable to a daily low-intensity work short duration. (2) not exceed 70% of the 1RM for the possibility of increasing the level of testosterone blood.
